Today is the 55th anniversary of the Operation Market Garden. A collection of short stories (in Japanese) about the battle for the bridge of Arnhem is added. My parents-in-law have experienced the battle at first hand.	今日で映画「遠すぎた橋」で描かれたアーネム（オランダ東部）の戦い 「マーケット・ガーデン作戦」の開始から５５年経ちます． 現地では今年も記念の式典がとり行われていることでしょう． このできごとをふりかえった 「ＷＷＷ講談：アーネムの橋」を加えました． アーネムは妻アンスの故郷です．

The 2nd International Conference on Cognitive Science was held in Tokyo hosted by Japanese Cognitive Science Society. The next conference will be in China (2001).	第２回認知科学国際会議と 日本認知科学会 第１６回大会の合同会議が，７月２７日から３０日まで，早稲田大学の 国際会議場で開催されました．

The 16th annual workshop of European Society for the Study of Cognitive Systems (ESSCS) will take place near Siena, Italy, 24-26 October, preceding the 3rd European Conference on Cognitive Science, 27-30 October 1999.	１０月にイタリアのシエナで，ヨーロッパ認知科学会議と ヨーロッパ認知システム研究会のワークショップが開催されます．

Today an art exhibition went open in Ginza where an old friend of mine is showing his recent works. The artist's name is M. Nabeshima. Here is one of his works.	高校の美術部時代の友人で画家の鍋島正世氏の 個展が 今日から始まりました．１５日まで．これはその見本です．

Enjoyed a joint exhibition by three artists, Y.Kanaya (photographer), C. Hozumi (lithographer), and N. Ohba (painter), in a Ginza gallery. The shared motif is "tulip." Another Japanese-Dutch 400 years event. See my tulips, inspired by the exhibition.	鬱金香《絵画・版画・写真による競作展》を見てきました． 「うこんこう」とは チューリップのこと．大場伸之（絵画）， 穂積千幸（版画），金谷喜久（写真）の３人のアーティストが チューリップをモチーフに，三者三様，多彩なフォルムを創り 出しています． オランダ大使館や日蘭交流４００年記念実行委員会が後援して いるもの．銀座８丁目のＰＩＣ（TEL: 5537-8123）で２８日まで （日曜休館）． こちらは わたしのチューリップ．

A Japanese version of the comparative chronological table of the years leading to the arrival of De Liefde was added.	西暦２０００年に訪れる日蘭友好４００周年を記念して， オランダ船デ・リーフデ号到着までの日蘭対照年表を 掲載しました．２月１５日に英語で公開したものの翻訳です．
